MAKES IT MATTER

Who:  Loraine Hoogendoorn

What:  Projectmanager

WHAT IS YOUR ROLE?

‘As a project manager, I am the link between the various parties involved in a project. A spider in the web. Every day I work on various projects with diverse clients. From beginning to end I am involved and ensure that projects run smoothly in terms of planning and budget’

HOW DO YOU MAKE IT MATTER?

‘By listening carefully and translating where necessary.  As a project manager, I get to work with many different knowledgeable people, all with their own discipline and jargon. I see it as my job to ask the right questions and create clarity for the entire project team. I believe in good intentions and often we mean the same thing just saying it differently ;-) When I manage to bring all those intentions together with accompanying beautiful work, and the pieces of the puzzle fall into place, that's where it matters to me.

WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON AT THE MOMENT?

‘Many different projects and that is exactly what makes me happy.
I am currently working on an e-learning that contains various communication tools and will be rolled out in nine languages. That means many parties are involved, which makes it a challenging and extensive project.
For a new client, we are creating an infographic, banners and an animation.
We developed a new style that we are implementing in all these expressions.
Besides the longer projects, there are also assignments with a short lead time.
These often involve the creation of flyers, posters and shop advertisements. These assignments again provide a totally different dynamic.

A few weeks back, I was part of a brand accelerator for the first time. I really loved it. Creating together is the most fun! I also experience that sense of togetherness in two internal projects I am working on. The first project is our own social media strategy, and I am also going to set up a Young OGSM together with two colleagues.
The first brainstorming session has already taken place and apart from what the outcome will be, we are having a lot of fun in the process, and that is at least as important ;-)

In short, no day is the same and is therefore always full of opportunities!.’
