WHAT IS YOUR ROLE?

"My role is - in the field of video - very broad; for the most part I work as an editor and put the finishing touches to the video productions of SowiesoHelder. I do that 'in house'; we have our own recording studio and two edit rooms within the agency. This means that I can quickly switch with the creatives or the project managers. I am also involved in developing and producing various video projects and I regularly assist in recordings. So I work both in the office and on location; I really enjoy that diversity of work and workplaces."

HOW DO YOU MAKE IT MATTER?

"Eye for detail is an important factor. The difference between a video that is well put together, where image and sound fit together perfectly and which triggers a feeling or an emotion (compared to a video that comes across as messy) is often in a ten-second range. Keeping a critical eye, trying out (and daring to discard) certain forms or styles and always checking whether the video still meets the client's ultimate goal is very important.

I also try to involve myself early on in the process and to think along with the content in the concept phase of an assignment. Because I am mainly involved in the final steps later on, I always try to test the translation between the original goal in the briefing and the final result of a video.

Finally, what makes a good production successful is the cooperation with colleagues. SowiesoHelder employs many colleagues with different expertise. By hooking up with the right colleague to ask for advice, we complement each other well in the service of a good end product."

WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON AT THE MOMENT?

"I usually work on several projects at once. At the moment I'm working on a video call for an internal competition of one of our clients, producing our so-called 'How to' instructional videos on an ongoing basis and preparing an after movie for a sustainability event."
